Endless Summer

DSC_0046

The sun never felt so good in November!  Christmas is just over a month away and I’m still in flip-flops and shorts – gotta love SoCal :)
Out-of-town pals came to visit me and the pets this weekend.  I’ll take any excuse to frolic in the surf & sand.

Grounded in LA

Get grounded for your health

Tweet At its core, it can be argued that Hollywood is a city built on ego and vanity.  Agents intoxicate self-important minds with visions of fame and grandeur while managers soothe inflamed psyches. It’s the norm rather than the exception in Tinsletown so staying firmly grounded in reality can be a task. No matter where...

‘shrooms, ‘shrooms, wonderful ‘shrooms

California’s Prop 19 was recently voted down, but I can still enjoy my mighty mushrooms. No, no, no…not the magical kind – the medicinal kind! Yes, there certainly is a difference. Truthfully, I’ve never taken so much as a puff of a cigarette and the roughest drugs washed down my gullet were prescription sleep aids or pain killers, both necessary after flipping ones bike on the track. In short, my anatomy is about as drug free as possible – now. Just a few weeks ago I was struggling to end my dependence on sleep aids, a difficult venture at best. With insomnia obliterating my ability to perform even the most banal of daily tasks I knew there had to be something in my arsenal of herbs and tinctures that would help restructure my circadian rhythms.

Planet Raw

The Inside of Planet RAW

Tweet After a hectic day of meetings on a chilly Thursday afternoon I knew that a treat was in order. My blood sugar level was feeling perilously low so a quick scan of Droid data was necessary to help me find good food, fast. Planet RAW? – hhhhmmm. On such a blustery afternoon one longs...

My Beautiful Blue Pacific

2010-10-10_17-09-27_921

Tweet After 5 long days and 4 short nights in a car, my furry, feathered clan and I reached our destination – the vast waters of the Pacific Ocean. Since arriving at the west coast, the weather has been unusually damp and chilly. A couple of low pressure systems off-shore have made me feel right...

A new life.

Tweet I showered under a watering can this morning! All part of the astounding attention to detail in my garden suite at the Adobe Grand Villas in Sedona, AZ. I’m on the last leg of my journey to the west coast now and after 4 long days in a car jammed with 3 smelly dogs...

Thank you.

Tweet As some of you may know the past year has been the most difficult of my life. It’s been a very dark time for me personally, and as such I have come to the decision that I need to leave this amazing city. I need to move away from Atlanta as soon as possible,...

What about Marty?!?!

6-9-10 002

Tweet Marty was one of the featured dogs up for adoption at Barkfest this year. I got the chance to walk him around, introduce him to everyone, and he even got on stage with me at one point. Marty is a well-mannered, loving, sweet dog that is looking for a new family to love him....

Gulf = “self”

Tweet I am saddened by the Gulf shore visitors and, in general, their response to the growing crisis.  I actually saw a shot of a beach-goer who was in tears because his “vacation was ruined” as he watched the beginnings of the spill wash ashore.  This was promptly followed by parents venting  about having to change their...

Mmmmmmmm…more fun with chocolate:)

Tweet I LOVE this recipe for raw (and surprisingly enough) dairy free chocolate pudding!  Soooooooooooo good, but it does require a little bit of time and patience not just to find the ingredients but to whip up a batch.  Trust me, it’s well worth the effort. From one of my favorite books Raw Food: Real...
