When you going to head to Venice or Manhatten Beach, great food, good people watching, and beaches, of course Santa Monica is not bad, and the hills above Malibu have some great places to live.. Have fun, been there and done that but if I had my choice I would be up north east of San Francisco near Tahoe, cant beat the skiing! Later DJ

I was going to mention some of my favorite seafood restaurants down around Balboa, but it’s been so long since I was there last I don’t know if any of them are still in business. However, if you feel like whale watching I might just be able to suggest my favorite boat skipper…

I was reminiscing about the “good ol’ days” in SoCal and something occurred to me that might interest you.
If you still have access to a motorcycle, and you have an entire day to do some real sight-seeing, take a ride south to Capistrano Beach. Once you get there turn east onto Highway 74 (It’s called Ortega Highway now) and just follow it east for a while. The scenery is gorgeous (all two lane road). You’ll pass Mission San Juan Capistrano, and eventually get to Lake Elsinor where the largest skydiving school in the west is located. They also do a lot of parasailing off of the mountain there. Further east you can either hit I-15 North back to L.A., or keep heading east on 74 (it changes names to the Palms to Pines Highway) clear out to Desert Hot Springs, Palm Springs etc. And get on I-10 West back to L.A. Check it out on a map before you start, or just “Google Earth” it…
I put many a mile on my old KZ900 making a day of it on that road. I’d do it again in a heartbeat if I were there.
It’s a heck of a day trip but I promise you that every mile shows you some new wonder.
I lived in SoCal most of my pre-military life and I will tell you that it’s one beautiful place once you get away from the cities.

We do miss you here in north Georgia. I’m glad you’re safely there on the west coast and using its beauty as a salve. I am dreadfully sorry for your sadness and loss. Know that it will slowly ebb, like the tide.
Your gifts are missed here — especially since “the silly girl” seems to be taking your place. (my husband’s words) You were so able to bring intelligence with warmth, along with good humor and ease — without the silliness! Those gifts will put you in good stead as you move toward new endeavors.
We think we’ll end up seeing you on the national news. You’ve got all the right stuff!

Oh my gosh you’re gone!!???? I’m a bit slow in realizing this since I normally watch “The Weather Channel” for my information. Those times when I would watch the local Atlanta weather report, I would always turn to see and hear you. You were wonderful to watch…and that voice; I just loved it. Not a lot of foolishness during your weather report, which is so common with others. I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for smart redheads. And you are definitely that.
I understand “My Beautiful Blue Pacific” since I’m originally from the Los Angeles area. I get back home about nine weeks per year to vacation and to check on clients. Every trip I make sure I get to the Pacific to relax and grab an ocean side lunch or dinner.
I can’t wait until my next trip back to Los Angeles, and I hope to see your wonderful self, on some local L.A. station, doing what you do best.

Dagmar, I used to live close to Sedona, you found a wonderfully spiritual place to stop (not as much as Taos, N.M.). I hope it did your soul some good. Look forward to hearing your next post, Michael.
If you get a chance, take the drive due north from Sedona toward Grand Canyon, on Highway 89. Weather permitting, you’ll want to ride with the top down! Sedona is a wonderful place of spirtual healing and renewal.
Correction, thats Alt. 89 toward Flagstaff. Only need to go about 15 miles or so. Enjoy.

First of all, you have to love anyone who would shower under a watering can, and think it was enjoyable! Second, nice photo! A rainbow is a sign of a new beginning. Of course you will still have the smelly dogs and chatty bird! I have live in Atlanta for 15 years and still don’t have it on my top five places I have lived. From what I see you loved the area and had a great job. I know, a job is a job. My advise, stop often on your travels and enjoy the moments! The dogs need to stretch!

I left the SoCal area (born and raised there) back in ’82 and haven’t been back since. My frinds from the old days tell me that a lot has changed (for the worse) since I left, so I think I’ll stay gone.
I hope that you have better there than you did here. And I hope that, from time to time you take the time to share your thoughts with those of us who miss you and wish nothing but the best for you.

Dagmar, your bright smile will not fade from my memory. You brought a quality to the weather report which I have not seen in my 40 years in broadcasting. It was not until your departure that I learned of the personal tragedy you’ve been suffering. I shall keep you in my prayers. As a side note, I should have guessed such a beauty came from one of my favorite cities. I spent a year in Vancouver, where I designed the tech facilities for CKVU-TV, which became Citytv Vancouver. Great city, great people.

I’m very glad to hear you are well. I know you have been going through a lot and, like many who know you only through your work in Atlanta my wife and I wish you all the best. We both grew up in California and originally met in 1971 in Thousand Oaks. After 38 years of marriage and 24 years with the Air Force living all over the world we have now settled near Lake Chatuge in North Carolina. It’s wonderful to know that you’re on the way to a new life. Even though I wasn’t in a position to watch CBS 46 live, I never failed to log onto their website at 4:00 PM daily. Hope those of us not where you’ll live will be able to see you again somehow.
I want to let you know how badly I felt when I found out why you left Georgia (not a local, and didn’t know about your guy until your goodbye message). That’s really rough, and for an obviously sensitive lady such as yourself, unthinkable.
I don’t want this to sound like a love letter (I’m old enough to be your father) but in a sense, it is. The sight (and sound, lovely voice and laught) made my day, no matter how rotten, every single day. Life has been pretty dreary the last 6 weeks, and the thought that we might see you again in any distant way is very uplifting. You are honestly the loveliest woman I’ve seen in my 66 years (and my own wife is no slouch, believe me) and you seem to be a genuinely nice person as well.
I wish you all the best in whatever you decide to do, but I sure do hope it’s somehow publicly visible.

Why do I have the sinking feeling that we’ve heard the last of you on this blog?
I truly hope that I’m wrong.
I finally turned on the Channel 46 news last night and found the “replacement” they hired for you… I won’t be going back.
Things appeared to have started to go downhill the last few months that you were there. Adding “Gomer” Martinez (like you needed back-up or some such), replacing Kim… I guess they just forgot who their target audience was. I hope that that didn’t add to the stress you were feeling.
Ah, well. Done is done.
If I could ask one favor, tell the quakes for me that I don’t miss ‘em at all, but I sure do miss the ocean, the mountains and, especially, the desert. I spent the first eighteen years of my life knocking around out there and I do miss it so. And, if you would, while you’re at it, if you happen to pass by Williams Lake look up at the poles along side the road. I made some of those snow depth marks many years ago. You’ll have to look up high; it was pretty deep.
Well, good luck in all you do. I have an idea that whatever it is that you decide to do you will land on your feet (or, at least come up swinging).
I wish for you the best of luck Dagmar. I, for one, will miss your smile.

In the course of an ordinary day I suppose it could mean whatever you want it to mean, but since I was visiting Sedona, AZ Vortex refers to the locations in the area where folks of a spiritual nature believe the earth concentrates mystical ‘energy’. I personally didn’t notice this magical flow of power, but I did thoroughly envelope myself in the spectacular views and pristine environment. Vortex or no, it was a rare treat
