I used to try to warn people all the time about things we're eating, drinking, absorbing,(Cell phone EMF's)but I soon began to alienate myself from people. I think most people don't wanna know, I think it scares them too much to face it. Good post tho Dagmar! Dr. Mercola is awesome, I read his stuff a lot.

May 6, 2010 - 2:46 pm shane - Thanks for sharing this. I am a state licensed Class 1 Water Treatment Plant Operator, and it truly amazes me that the public is so willing to pay such high premiums for bottled water, when our tap water is cheaper and much more highly regulated.

There are some folks in. the cave diving community who would be glad to give you insight into the issue of what has happened here in North Florida to the underwater springs system here as a result of the demands of bottled water.

May 7, 2010 - 9:08 am Matt - I can say, with 100% honesty, that I have never purchased a bottle of water in my life....not for political reasons, just sheer common sense. I've gotten by just perfectly with ordinary tap water.

May 8, 2010 - 1:47 am Will Fleming - Err...I'm an avid camper and trust me when I say that the article's opinion on the safety of "spring water" is woefully uneducated. There is a reason all camping stores and websites sell water purification products...water contains contaminates, parasites and bacteria. The idea that the earth purifies the water to a safe level will leave one seriously ill if they try to drink that water. "You see there are living organisms in water like algae that are actually beneficial for us but when you heat the water, just like pasteurizing milk, you damage it." The living organisms in water can also cause Shigellosis, Cholera, Hepatitis A, Typhoid Fever, Leptospirosis, Malaria and Dengue Fever. Remember, just because someone has "Dr" in front of their name doesn't mean they know anything of what they are writing about.

May 13, 2010 - 4:56 pm Garrett and Vanna - My father's two cents: OK, the Japanese, who have worked a lot on water technology, refer to RO water as dead water - since as noted it the article there is nothing in it. The problem as I understand it is that RO water in the body is looking for chemical reactions to help it stabilize and thus will remove minerals etc from the cells of the body - depleting you. Footnote: we used RO water in some of our (Metal Container/Anheuser-Busch)Plants to conduct the final rinse of chemically treated cans before further processing - the RO water would grab any remaining salts, minerals or biological growth from the cans and was very effective at it. I would definitley not knowingly drink any RO water. Ask your friend about alkaline versus acidic water. Also some of the Coke and Pepsi waters use RO - if you test them they are usually quite acidic.

May 15, 2010 - 1:02 am admin - Interesting that as a 'camper' you think of yourself as more highly educated than a well respected nutritionist and doctor. Are you aware of the fact that malaria and dengue fever are spread by mosquitoes and not water sources? Spring water, NOT, river or stream or lake water (your general sources of water used when camping) is for the most part VERY well filtered. For the record I drink only unpasturized milk and have never had a related health issue. I suggest you do a little more research before submitting your next post.

April 15, 2010 - 1:15 am Garrett and Vanna - Catnap, I, for one, am pleased to hear that the companies distributing "cocoa-shell" mulch are committed to only stocking garden products that sicken or kill a mere 2% of pets or less. Besides, I hear it really does a wonder for roses . . . I will circulate this info at the AHS tomorrow and investigate what the regulars have heard. Keep bringing the good-fight!

April 5, 2010 - 4:04 pm maya - for sure. but you know what else? i started buying those sandwich thins and thought they were great. after a few weeks, i decided to look at the ingredients list. they have sucralose (splenda) in them. since when is it ok to put artificial sweeteners in our food and not label it on the front? i threw them out. and i'm still annoyed!

April 5, 2010 - 5:33 pm c. jackson clarke - It is absolutely deceipt when you consider the number of folks who rely so heavily on grocery stores to stock their shelves with foods that are safe for their own and their families consumption,without ever reading the results of a food study or who think the store they frequent would never sell anything so toxic.In reality grocery stores are a business...the goal is to make money.They want to avoid lawsuits and the loss of business,but they will sell most anything. If it's not natural I don't want it!To me there's nothing at all about "genetically modified or engineered" that even sounds remotely close to being appetizing or even belonging in a phrase preceeding the word food.We have to stop this deception and not let ignorance and greed decide our fate.Who wouldn't rather enjoy life,have fun and actually LIVE!?Hard to do when your sick.

Otherwise, you're missing out on half the fun of what other's are doing. There's nothing like a good cheeseburger at a summer picnic.

Seems like quite an example of an oxymoron...with an emphasis on the moronic aspect!Enjoy your life style being swayed by whatever wind blows you,I'll stick with my passions and avoid all that "good fun" the other half are having.
