April 28, 2010 - 4:02 pm Ernie Salas - By the last picture it looks like yu may have had time to visit "Old San Juan". I love that part of town with it's narrow streets and old buildings. I am glad you had a wonderful time. Everybody deserves time off for a vacation just to get out of the rut and relax. I never did the zipline. I went to fort San Christabal and could not believe how thick the walls are. Are you participating in the Atlanta Humane Sociaty dog walk next month? The company I work for always has the biggest turnout. Come on down. I will be there with my daughters dog (Abby) whose picture is on my facebook page. The dogs really enjoy it.

For folks reading this, the shelter is apparently not one of those dodgy shelters we see horror stories about. According to reviews, the only issues are funding and the building. March 4, 2010 - 7:10 pm Susan - Thank you so much for trying to help this shelter. My organization, Leftover Pets, has been helping Gloria for the past 4 years. We take her dogs to adoption events, help her get them spay/neutered, vaccinated, tested for heartworms. We treat the ones that are positive. Over the years we have also sent quite a few to other states (mostly NY) where they have found wonderful homes. We are very excited and hope that many people will work together to make this a happier place for animals as they wait on a forever home.

Let me know when is the next outing. I'm just a hammer swinger, but I work with a bunch of guys who know how to design anything you want to build.

I have been volunteering with the Homeless Pets Foundation since Oct of 2007. Very gratifying walking, bathing, and driving the dogs and cats to get them permanent homes.

February 12, 2010 - 9:21 am Phillip Swindall - Dagmar, I noticed you are a HUGE animal fan... could you help an animal preserve in East Alabama (Tigers for Tomorrow) raise some money to save two big cats from a This is the information I got from an email from them: American Dog Rescue has issued the supporters of Tigers For Tomorrow a $10,000 challenge grant to help Tigers For Tomorrow relocate the last two cats from the Lookout Mountain Zoo to Untamed Mountain. DELRAY BEACH, FL (February 5, 2010) - Arthur Benjamin, Founder and President of American Dog Rescue, heard about the plight of two animals left at a closed zoo, Lookout Mountain Wild Animal Park in Mentone, Alabama, the only two animals that have not been relocated. While they are not canines, they fit the animal welfare mission of this rescue organization. Therefore ADR, moved by their plight, has issued a $10,000 challenge grant to raise $30,000 so that these large cats can have a new home: "Tigers For Tomorrow, a sanctuary in Attalla, Alabama, has agreed to clear land, build housing and have these two tigers join their other 130 animals on 140 acres making "Untamed Mountain" their home. .... The sanctuary is well-respected by state and national organizations."
